TV Debut

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/30/2006 10:39:00 PM 8 lovely comments
Remember I went down to Arundel to do some TV work for a new craft channel, well it is up and running here. BUT beware I am such a fidget, and I blink too long, lol. The only consolation is I had no direction and it was my first time, so hopefully the next time will be better, much better. Do check out all the channels and programs, lots of familiar faces to be seen and it is all very entertaining.
Click on the link above and then go to "general interest - beginners scrapbooking" for a laugh and a half at my expense!

Lilly had swimming lessons this evening, and she is going great guns,. Izzy and I are so proud of her; and it is also a chance for Izzy and I to have 1/2 hour of time together in the coffee shop, a valuable time for us to chat and do some reading.

I cannot believe tomorrow is December the 1st!! As is custom with me, I still haven't got the girls advent calenders out of the loft and cannot see me climbing up there on my own tonight either. Do you think they will suffer terribly if they have to wait until tomorrow night?
I still have so much yet to do as well, i haven't even made a crimbo card.
I guess instead of chatting to my computer I should go go create!!!

Please send me loads of inspiration, motivation and energy please, i am sure I am coming down with the dreaded lurgy, my nostrils are on fire!

hugs

its all work

and no play at the moment.................
I have been packing kits to go out next week, kits for this weekend, kits for next month and orders galore. Started clearing out the packing room and sorting out the poor dining room which has suffered from a plague of boxes these last few weeks.

I finished another project for this weekend. I love this card/mini book. Made with just envelopes, it is so neat. Love these papers as well, they have a really nice shimmer to them.

And at last Scrapping Angels part deux is live on the website and we are taking bookings. A 2 day scrapping extravaganza from Saturday 28th April - Sunday 29th April. 8 fantastic classes to choice from and 5 talented scrapbooking teachers from the UK and Europe. This is going to be bigger and better than last years. We are holding next years retreat at Wyboston Lakes in Cambridgeshire. Beautiful surroundings, yummy food, and lots of scrapping will be of the order of the weekend. Do come and join us. Pop over to the website to secure your place and for more details.

Next week I am promising myself some me time to scrap. I have a couple of magazine deadlines to complete and this weeks Pencil Lines sketch before the Christmas workshop on Sunday, then its scrapping entirely for me!
Today I signed up for Ali Edwards EZines after reading Annie's blog. Does anyone else subscribe to these? I have a good few weeks to catch up on and be prompted by the looks of things.
I managed a bit of Christmas shopping with Amazon today, thank goodness. I am so behind and have loads to do, also all my Christmas cards to make!!!!!
OK all this talk of what is left to do is making me tired, I am off to bed and hopefully wake up refreshed and ready to tackle another day!!

Exploding

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/28/2006 08:15:00 PM 2 lovely comments
with creativity... well i would like to think so anyways. I have completed the exploding box class for the workshop this week and received lots more goodies from sponsors for one of Annies class. All is running smoothly and a fun day will be had by all, I can guarantee that. If you fancy joining us for a day of festive fun and gift making then please book yourself a place. At only £45 for the day, including lunch, 5 fabulous classes and a festive goodie bag full of treats, then pop on over here to grab yourself a seat.

I have popped a lot more stock into the 50% section on the website as well, as I really went to start moving stock as I am only open for a few more weeks!! Then I can concentrate on crops/retreats/teaching/writing and our ever popular page kits, all will be seen at the new website. Of course the "Angel Kiss" range will follow me over as well.

Today I received a letter that my favourite and first wholesaler Trading Memories, are closing their doors on the 31/01. This is such a shame, and I wish Kathy and her family happiness for the future. Where am I going to get my Bazzill now I ask?!!
It is with great sadness that a friend/colleague lost her sister to cancer this morning. I feel for her so terribly at this dreadful time and my thoughts are with her and their families. I wish them all the strength they will need for these coming months.

Lets keep our loved ones close and think of each and everyone we love before we close our eyes tonight.

With Love

At home with the Hafermanns

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/26/2006 11:45:00 PM 6 lovely comments
What a fantastic weekend of food, drink, fun, laughter and wonderful company at Annie's and Spike's this weekend. Annie cooked the most amazing spread of Thanks Giving dinner. I am talking, turkey, sweet potato topped with pecans (to die for), salad with pecans and apple (yummy!), mash potato, stuffing, runner bean and mushroom casserole, cranberry and orange chutney, homemade bread, and loads more i just cant remember. To finish we had these delightful melt in the mouth cinnamon cookies, pecan pie and pumpkin pie!!!. Ended the night with all the children piled in Dean's bed, much to his delight may I add and us grownups playing Cranium ( i think thats what it was called?!)

Fell into bed gone midnight and awoke this morning to a Spike all American cooked breakfast special. OMG what a way to finish our amazing all American weekend. The children have played so well, hugged, laughed and cried. Yep Dean shed tears and poor Lilly cried buckets until she cried herself to sleep in the car, all because they had to leave each other, how sad is that.

Arrived home around 2pm and curled on the sofa to a dose of the X Factor. I am really sorry to see Eton Road leave. They were not the most talented but those boys have grown on me and were alot better than the McDonald brothers( who the girls love, may have something to do with the golden arches!)

Then a few hours in my scrap room for this weeks Pencil Line sketch. I am loving each week and each sketch more than the last. How can they get better each week I keep asking myself, but they do. Go and head on over and if you have never scrapped from a sketch, this week is a good week to start. Our guest DT is Missy Neal. Don't forget you can check back over all the previous sketches and do send us a link to your take on the sketch as well as entering your LO to the readers gallery for your chance to win a price from our sponsors Scrapitude this month.

Crumbs I have sure waffled on. What did you all get up to this weekend, hope it was us fun packed as mine

this makes me happy

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/23/2006 10:42:00 PM 8 lovely comments
I know its a few Japanese wooden people and a lamp. But as Karen can witness, I LOVE MY NEW LAMP, I really do. Not a good picture, but I love, love my new lamp. I now sit on the sofa in the corner, so I can see my lovely new lamp. A real bargain at only 24.99 at TK Max!!!

These cute wooden figurines are make me so happy, and I now collect them. these 2 were bought for me by the girls. 1 for Mothers Day and the other was for being the best teacher ( in their eyes) at Bonanza!. awwwww
Sadly Karen has now left us and is now back at home in Newcastle. She really has been a rock and I cant thank her enough. the girls have had a wonderful time with her, and we now know where Lilly's weak spot is! just behind her right knee, lol.
I am now eagerly awaiting my 2nd attempt delivery of 30,000 Angel Kisses, wohoo, I hear you cry, and with that a day of packing retail and trade orders. I now have the scrummy Christmas crate papers in da house! and kit 10 is being packed as I write, and I have a few extra sheets left over that I have made up crate packs with so grab one now as they are going fast.

I am really looking forward to the weekend as we Bowkis's have been invited to the Hafermann's for Thanks Giving dinner, I am so excited about this as I have never had a thanks giving dinner. I will be baking my contribution to the table tomorrow and couldn't resist picking up something delightful for the new baby as well as the handsome Dean. Call them early Christmas pressies ;)

That leaves me to say a Happy Thanks Giving to all our American friends. Hope you have a lovely day with friends and family

Published in the US of A

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/22/2006 04:01:00 PM 10 lovely comments
I am so chuffed to have had my first LO published in an American magazine. I am on the DT for an American manufacturing company called Zsiage and they have chosen 1 of my layouts for an advert in Altered Art. I was so pleased when I got the email.

I have been quite these passed few days as I have my good friend Karen down from Newcastle. She is very good to me and mothers me in a lovely way. She has really put a smile on my face these past few days and we have shopped till my arms have dropped! I even bought myself some new clothes today, the first time in a very very long time, so I am very happy!

And some more happy news. On Monday I received a box of gorgeous things from a wonderful lady, Heather from Scotland. Heather and I really hit it off when I taught at the Luxurious Angels retreat last month. We have a lot in common and love many of the same things. This box was full of all delights that put a massive smile on my face and made me feel like a very special person. Thank you so much Heather, you are an amazing person!

My box contained 3 books, 3 srummy Asian stamps, a handmade slide mount embellishment and my fav item of all was this gorgeous mug and coaster. Can you see what it says? "Domestic Goddess" .In fact I love it so much I now have a matching bowl, to fill with choccies while I scrap, lol.
Tomorrow Karen leaves for the Newcastle and I have lots to do and catch up with
I am finishing of my Christmas workshop projects and I am so in love with them!
Don't forget to check out Pencil Lines this week as well. The readers gallery goes up today with amazing work from our readers to inspire you more

A Weekend to Reflect

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/19/2006 10:10:00 PM 10 lovely comments
I have had the weekend to myself. The girls have been at Nana's and Peter was on a Team Building weekend in Norfolk, leaving me to a weekend of reflection. I cried buckets, sorted dads belongings and scrapped a plenty. It really wasn't too bad you know.

I cleaned my dad's pocket watch/clock up that I had given him for his 70th and this will now have pride of place on my bedside table. I also had a magazine assignment to do and I chose to dedicate my page to dad. He would have been so chuffed to be gracing the pages of a glossy magazine, lol!!

Another layout was for the Pencil Lines sketch which is now live. I loved this weeks sketch by my favourite sketch artist Becky Fleck. Pop on over to see what the DT did this week and our talented guest DT Lu Braxton.
I also completed a couple of DT projects as well for Zsiage. So all in all a very productive weekend.

Karen is arriving form Newcastle tomorrow and I cannot wait. I need a big hug and some girly time out, and she is a scrapper so what more could I ask for!!
I picked the girls up this afternoon and stayed at Nana's for a good English Sunday dinner of homemade mince pie, roasties and lots of scrummy veg and gravy!. The girls made sweet mince pies and jam tarts for afters. How spoilt am I?! We then went for a lovely walk down by the river

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Finally, if you have a spare few pennies please see my post below about the MS Xmas Star appeal that I am doing to raise money for MS. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to pop by my fundraising page and donate. Every penny helps as they say. I will be posting out starts in the next day or two
Big Hugs to you all

Cookie Monster

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/15/2006 11:14:00 PM 6 lovely comments
Lilly and I have been baking cookies, and we have Annie to blame for this. last week Lilly and I spent the day with Annie and Dean and got fat on peanut butter cookies. Today we wanted to play, and we made cookies, I now feel very sick as I think I have eaten best part of half the batch , eek!!

Lilly enjoyed licking the spoon the most, and tasting the baking......

Now we need more cookie recipes, I may have been converted for a week or so from cupcakes to cookies. Mind, I haven't baked a cupcake in an age.
If anyone has any scrummy cookie recipes I would love you to send them to me.
I also came across these 2 scrummy blogs/websites, for any foodies out there check them out. The cupcake blog is an all time fave of mine, if not just for the photography. And the other site,
well I am a sucker for that title, lol Cupcake blog and The Domestic Goddess .
Apart from baking this afternoon, I actually managed to complete my CJ entry for Annie's CJ on The Pad, entitled "love", and I did my pages on my love for baking, how apt , hehehehehe.
Tomorrow I must finish another CJ entry, this one is for The Lounge, and is very overdue. And then I will crack on with some magazine deadlines.
Now to write my to do list for tomorrow....................

Keeping me sane

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/13/2006 11:14:00 PM 6 lovely comments
Today has been one of those days, where phone calls from friends and hugs from my girls has kept me sane. Lots of lovely emails and posts to remind me its OK to still be sad, and that "afterlife" I had hoped for is there. It is so re assuring.

Last night was Pencil Lines week 7 and sketch layout 6 was uploaded by the so very talented Carole Janson, the queen of 3 dimensional work. this was my take on the sketch. I am kinda liking this circle larky!! Its hard bloomin work though, but worth it.
Are you still doing the sketches? It is such good fun and keeps me inspired and motivated. I have scrapped more than 1 photo, and am loving it!! I have worked with circles, and loving it!!! and Ali Edwards emails me, and I am loving it!!!!!!!!!

So you fancy another Scrapping Angels retreat next year?? The teachers are finalised, the classes are being worked on, and I am just finalising costs and maybes starting on the Friday afternoon for all you die hard scrappers. Make a note in your diary for the 27th-29th April at Wyboston in Cambridgeshire. Feel free to email me your interest as quite a few of you have already started doing:)
And don't forget we have a festive workshop on December 3rd for all those last minute gift ideas.

Go check out the site for page kit 9. My favourite line by far from Basic Grey.
I am off to finish packing orders and off to bed with a new book tonight. Any reading recommendations for me? I have just finished the Dave Pelzer trio logy so am probably looking for a lighter read.

AfterLife

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/12/2006 06:39:00 PM 16 lovely comments
Is there an after life? I always ask myself this question, and with recent events, is why I ask myself alot. I have had a difficult few days which is why I haven't blogged. I miss my Dad terribly, and I had always dreamt of an Afterlife where Dad would make his presence known, and while my days are tough at the moment it is at these times I wish he was here to guide me.
There has been no "sign" or presence, nothing, should I give up hope of it ever happening?
I have watched the series "Afterlife" and last night was the last of the series. The whole question of an afterlife was dealt with so beautifully, and I pray that my Dad was taken away by someone who cared and was met at the gates of heaven by his mother and father with open arms. This does keep me sane, in the hope he has met the parents he lost at the tender age of 8.

I have been busy throwing my energies into my scrapping again these past few days. At last the November page kit will be posted out on Monday. I managed 2 layouts, a card and I still have a sheet of patterned paper and scraps of card stock to play with!
Later tonight I will upload the extra kits I have left after the subscriptions, so keep your eyes peeled.
I really enjoyed playing with this kit. The Christmas Crate Papers have also been shipped from the US for the December kit and I cannot wait to have a stroke of these scrummy delights.

A new Pencil Line sketch goes up tonight. I am really excited about this weeks GDT, she has been a favourite scrapper of mine for a long time now. An Australian scrapper and very talented 3 dimensional scrapper!!
I struggled with mine to start with, but I love the finished results

What have you all been up to this weekend? Whatever you got up to, I hope you had fun.
And lastly we must not forget our hero's that lost and fought for their life's in WW1, WW2 and all modern day wars, including the conflicts in the Middle East

6 weeks and counting

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/09/2006 08:52:00 PM 8 lovely comments
to Christmas that is. Can you actually believe that the season of giving is actually upon us so quick!!. But I have so much left to do before the year is out.

i still have to:

loose 2 stone
get fit
eat healthy
clean the house from top to toe
finish my to do list

to name just a few of things left to do!!
I went to the hairdressers today, my new 6 weekly treat to myself at Zaks. My first visit was the day before Dads funeral and is now a ritual, I actually book my appointment on leaving. They also do a mean selection of Elemis products.

On leaving the hairdressers I headed over to Woolworth's to start buying chocolate for the girls advent calenders. You know the ones with the pockets. well these were a bargain buy in the Sale at 99p each, some plonker forgot I have to fill the bloomin things, all 24 pockets twice over!!! So today I decided to start purchasing some goodies. £101.52 later a few Christmas pressies for the girls fell into my basket. Mainly Bratz bits and bobs for Izzy (boy I don't like these new dollz, what ever happened to Sindy!) and the more cute Fifi and Dora for Lilly.

Had a fab day at Annies yesterday with Lilly and Dean. Annie and I finalised teh christmas workshop classes and I am so excited. You must come and join us, we still ahve a few places left, it would be a crime not too.

The April retreat is coming along nicely too and I hope to start taking bookings shortly.

That's all I think for now. Off to Kettering tomorrow to deliver a very important box of Angel Kisses for Clever Cut as they are selling out so fast at the NEC, they require more of these beauties!

Which brings me to this. If you order Angel Kisses trade then you need to get your orders in now as my last deliver of the yeararrives in about 7 - 10 days.

Until tomorrow
hugs
Anna

PS: just wanted to let you all know I didnt do the Crate paper layout in my last post.

Kits, Workshops and Annie

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/07/2006 10:28:00 PM 12 lovely comments
are all in a days work!

have put the finishing touches to the launch kit for January on the new site and it is gorgeous, you will not be disappointed. The new Scrapping Angels UK blog will be up and running shortly, for sneek peeks before the site launches next year.

Also finalised the Christmas kit using the new Christmas Crate papers, and just finished ordering bits and pieces for the Christmas 1 day workshop on the 3rd December. So many great projects lined up all with scrummy papers, I am so excited!

I am off to see Annie and Dean tomorrow with Lilly in tow. We are off to Bury for some good chatting, scrapping and just plain old hanging out, just the 4 of us.

I will be back tomorrow armed with photo's as my new D80 has been requested to travel with me, lol.
By the way, this photo is Lilly in her Movie Star role, escaping the paparazzi!!!

How was your day? Hope it was full of lots of crafting, and cherishing every moment with your family. I know I cant get enough of my girls, they light my every waking day.
OO nearly forgot to tell you, I was a parent helper today at Lillys nursery. Either I was a popular gal or my Lilly is!! I will leave you to ponder that one, not hard I know.......

photos and layouts

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/06/2006 11:49:00 PM 4 lovely comments
just a quick update to end tonight with.

Here is the "bored (of) feet" photo, just a jokey shot of the "feet" photo that so many photographers seem to do, we couldn't resist a play, but Gillian hadn't realised that she would be in the shot and was too busy checking her watch for the time, hence the "bored (of) feet" title, although i have chopped their heads of!
And finally a layout i did for a competition where we could only use card stock and no pattern paper.

And now to bed after all the excitement of the day.
Thanks again for making Pencil Lines the best!!

So happy

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/06/2006 02:19:00 PM 6 lovely comments

and lost for words. Pencil Lines is typepads featured blog of the day. this is such an accolade and a compliment to the site, the DT and our guest DT girls for making Pencil Lines no 1!!!!

This weeks guest DT is none other than the amazing Ali Edwards, we are so thrilled and privileged to have her support the website. If you haven't joined in the fun yet you must go over and check out Ali's sketch.
It seems Pencil Lines is causing quite a stir and is popping up all over the world of blogs as a site to check out, so thank you to everyone for making it happen.

And the reason I haven't updated till now is I have had Gillian and Maria down from Newcastle for the weekend. We have had such a blast, playing with our cameras and taking arty firework pictures.

But check out the light painting, aren't these fab!! Yes that is 4 people drawn in sparkler light!!! Isn't is just fab, i love it.

Maria asked me to do some publicity piccies for her, and we also had to mess around and do the infamous "foot" shot, aptly named "bored feet" due to Gillian checking out her watch for the time. (see this photo next post, lol)
So how was Bonfire night for you? Did you all take some great shots and have a blast.

In need of some inspiration for christmas pressies this year? Then you must come and spend the day with Annie and I in Buckden for an inspirational workshop of festive fun. Places are going fast so book yours today.
Finally, a BIG Happy Birthday to Gillian for today, it was soo good to see you.
I will post some more photos from the weekend later. Once again thank you for all your support and for making Pencil Lines No. 1

The Worm Catcher

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/03/2006 10:02:00 PM 5 lovely comments
This is Lilly The Worm Catcher, taken with my new Nikon D80, set with a low aperture for a good depth of field, the worm nicely in focus, hehehehe.

I do love this camera, its very weighty though, and I love this lens. Freddie you were right, this is everything I need in a camera (for now *wink*) And a piccie of peter before he starts to think I have more interest in taking photos of worms than him! Poor soul.......

Pencil Line sketch is all done, and this weeks sketch has spurred on many more of the same. And is by one of my favourite scrapper, you are going to love this weeks sketch.
I also had a layout to complete and upload for round 3 of a competition I have entered. This weeks challenge was to use card stock only, no pattern paper!!!
I have cleaned the house from top to bottom and even the cooker, no idea why as I am sure Gillian will not be putting her head in there, but one is never quite sure!
Looking forward to a girly weekend with good friends, fireworks at night and my new camera, what more could a girl ask for?
Until tomorrow my friends, have fun if you are off to any firework displays. Remember keep safe :)

On Duty

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/02/2006 09:22:00 PM 4 lovely comments
My poor little Lilly is a sickly girl again, and I am on Nurse duty. She is tucked up in my bed, well its the best place to be when you are feeling yuck. I know Peter will not be impressed when he returns from college!!! But tough.

And because of this nothing much to blog about. Nearly finished my competition layout, then I have my Pencil Lines stuff to do, and tomorrow I have to prepare the guest room for friends coming to stay this weekend.

Hasn't the weather just been gorgeous today? I hate to bring my blog down to weather reports, but it really had been the most glorious Autumn crisp cold day. Lilly and I did manage a walk this afternoon before she started feeling poorly. We even had the wood burner on last night. Oh how I love the sight, sound and smell of a real log fire.

Oh and the bestest news of all is I have at last managed to get my hands on a Nikon D80 and 18-135mm lens. they are like gold dust at the moment, but tomorrow I should be the proud owner of one!!

So here a few last piccies that i took with my Fuji 9500

Halloween pics

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/01/2006 10:51:00 PM 6 lovely comments

As promised a few Halloween photos from last night. Not the best as my Fuji 9500 is all packed to be posted out to its new home, and I am camera less as my Nikon D80 with snazzy 18-135mm lens is out of stock, so need to look else where for one. I am gutted, no decent Halloween piccies and its bonfire night this weekend. So we have a scrummy bowl of Halloween Haribos, Izzy and her best friend all dressed and off to a party, and the poorly witch you had to dress up so she could offer Halloween cookies to all.

But who cares, life is great, Pencil Lines is doing just brilliant and we have a extra sketch that went up today by the brilliant Queen Geek, and this Sunday's GDT is going to make you squeal with joy!!

Loads of deadlines to complete which is why I haven't been able to upload any LO's of late.

So how was last night for you then? I have seen some amazing pumpkin carving. Check out Sues and Correnas blogs (praying they have them there!?) for some seriously brilliant carving.

Finally Scrapping Angels #2 has nearly been finalised so bookings should be ready to commence for next month, wohoo!!!
Nite all

Scrapping Angels goes Down Under

blogged by me domestic goddess On 11/01/2006 09:49:00 AM 6 lovely comments

After months of talks and preparation Scrapping Angels have eventually gone global, and I am proud as punch to announce my Auzzie partner in crime is the fabulous Trish Reed.

Trish and her sister have started Scrapping Angels Australia which will be launched in January 2007 alongside Scrapping Angels UK.

April and September Scrapping Angels UK will be holding retreats and in October 2007 Scrapping Angels Australia will be holding their first retreat.
Both sites will be concentrating on kits and talented DT members. And I know for one Carole Janson and our very own Annie Haferman are part of the DT.
Scrapping Angels will have its own blog to keep you updated on all the going ons and we will be holding online classes and much more to keep you inspired.

I think that's enough to whet the appetite for now
Hugs
Anna xxxx

PS: Check back later for spooky Halloween piccies
